A local taxi driver was arrested on Wednesday for filming his girlfriend’s female tenant several times when she was having a shower in the flat’s bathroom, Public Security Police (PSP) Wong Wai Chon said at a regular press conference on Friday.
The 40-year-old local suspect surnamed Un told the police that he is the boyfriend of the owner of the flat.
According to Wong, the female victim in her twenties called the police at about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. She told the police that when she was showering at her home in Rua Graciosa in the northern district, she saw that she was being filmed on a smartphone through the transom window between the bathroom and the kitchen. She felt scared and immediately got dressed and left the bathroom to check who was there. She told the police that she suspected Un filmed her as he was the only other person in the flat. She questioned Un and asked him to give her his smartphone to check. She discovered the clip on his phone and called the police immediately.
The Public Security Police arrived at the scene and arrested Un. PSP officers discovered on Un’s smartphone 18 video clips of the victim showering. Un admitted that he had filmed the victim many times since last month when she was showering “because of her beauty”.
Un has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of invasion of privacy and illegal recordings and photography, according to Wong.
