Mobile phone imports surge 179 pct in March
Macau’s mobile phone imports in the first quarter increased 74.0 percent to 2.17 billion patacas, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.According to a DSEC statement earlier this week, mobile phone imports in March surged 179.2 percent to 670.7 million patacas.Imports of beauty, cosmetic and skin-care products rose 52.9 percent to 1.15 billion patacas in the first quarter. ‘Wealth-sharing’ handouts start in July: govt
The government will start to distribute its annual “wealth-sharing” cash handouts to residents from early July, Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng announced yesterday.The amount this year is 9,000 patacas for permanent and 5,400 patacas for non-permanent residents, both unchanged from last year, Leong said at a press conference at Government Headquarters yesterday.The last batch of beneficiaries will receive their cash handouts in September, according to Leong.Executive Council

Motor vehicles drop 2.6 pct in March
Macau’s total number of licensed motor vehicles at the end of March dropped 2.6 percent year on year to 238,970, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in a statement yesterday.Light motorcycles decreased 15.2 percent to 28,182. SJM’s gaming revenue rises 6.7 pct in Q1
SJM Holdings said in a statement yesterday that its net gaming revenue for the first quarter rose by 6.7 percent year on year to HK$8.41 billion.Adjusted EBITDA increased by 17.0 percent to HK$987 million.
